Sonoma Specialty Hospital is Hiring a Telemetry Technician Near Sebastopol, CA

The Long Term Acute Care (LTCH) Division of Sonoma SpecialtyHospital is designed to provide care of medically complex patientswho have experienced catastrophic illness and/or multi-system failure and arein need of intense rehabilitation services and an extended stay in an acutecare setting. These patients usually come directly from a Short Term Acute CareHospital (STCH) and are in need of vent weaning and acute rehabilitationservices for a longer period of time to recover and return to their optimallevel of health. The average length of stay (ALOS) of these patients is a rangeof 25-35 days which is a longer than average stay at a Short Term Acute CareHospital. Care for these types of patients is provided by RNs, RespiratoryTherapists, Wound Care Nurses, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists,and Speech Therapists. Also a collaborative team of specialty physicians,psychologists, dieticians, and social workers will focus on an individualizedgoal for each patient to recover and reach their independence and optimum levelof health.is a missing piece in the continuum of care within the health caresystem.

FULL-TIME POSITION

Job Summary:

The Telemetry Technician is responsible for monitoring telemetry system per Sonoma Specialty Hospitalpolicies and procedures.

Education, Training and Licenses Required:

  • Telemetry Technician certification required 
  • BLS required 
  • EMT, CNA, and/or MA license or certification preferred.

Experience Required:

  • One year experience as unit clerk in acute setting preferred. 
  • Computer knowledge required

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • High school graduate or GED required. 
  • Medical terminology preferred. 
  • Health Information Management awareness preferred.

Essential Functions:

  • Competent with the Telemetry monitor system and Telemetry monitor policy 
  • Respond to phone, BP monitoring equipment and Telemetry monitor system alarms

Safety Requirements:

Employees are responsible for all aspects of the hospital safety and health program including compliancewith safety rules and regulations, remedying unsafe working conditions, and for continuously practicingsafety while performing duties. Sonoma Specialty Hospital policy prohibits employees with patient contactor those who prepare products for patient use from wearing artificial nails.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the position is frequently required to do the following: 
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and stand for sustained period of time. 
  • Walk, push, pull, lift, carry objects from a lower to higher position or horizontally from position toposition or otherwise move objects. 
  • Feel sizes, shapes, temperatures, and textures by touching with skin, particularly that of thefingertips. 
  • Express or exchange ideas orally and potentially loudly, accurately, or quickly. 
  • Perceive the nature of sound with no less than a 40 db loss @ 1000 Hz and 2000 Hz with or without correction.
  •  Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. 
  • Minimum standard of visual acuity with or without correction. 
  • While worker may possibly be subjected to temperature changes, the worker is generally notsubstantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions as the work is predominantly inside.

Able to work in a fast paced, moderately noisy environment. Able to keep positive working relations withMD's, RN's and ancillary staff members in crisis situations. Priority setting and rapid assessment skillspreferred. Maintains positive public relations with patients and patients' family members
